About GCDA – Welcome to Our Colorful World!

gcdacolorlogo7
Greater Cincinnati Decorative Artists (GCDA) welcomes you to our world of creativity!

Simply put, we like to paint!  Within our membership, you’ll find just about all the art mediums represented:  acrylics, oils, watercolors, colored pencil, and pen and ink.  Our members include beginners through advanced, with some who teach and some who sell their artwork, but everyone paints for the joy and satisfaction of creating art.

We’re always seeking to expand our artistic skills and learn new techniques, and so we schedule classes and workshops throughout the year. Club meetings are followed by a 3-hour painting class taught by one of our many talented teachers.  Classes vary each month and explore a variety of mediums, techniques and styles.  In April, we host a three-day painting retreat in West Harrison, Indiana.  From whimsical to fine-art, beginner to advanced, there’s room for everyone who wants to create art and have fun doing it.

For information about meeting dates, times and location, please check the MEETING INFORMATION page.  To receive information about our annual painting retreat in April, GCDA classes and workshops, membership in GCDA, or to be added to our distribution list, please provide your email along with your request.

GCDA is a non-profit organization formed in September 1980. The purpose is to promote interest in decorative painting and provide programs to increase learning and skills in a relaxed and fun environment.   Membership includes the tri-state areas of Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana and beyond.

If you enjoy creating art – regardless of your skill level – come join us for the fun!

I was a member many years ago. I have just now started painting again. I am looking to find the dry-it boards that I used to place pieces of wood on after I had painted both sides. It doesn’t look like they manufacture these drying boards anymore. Do you have any suggestions??? Thanks a bunch for your help.

Janis, I haven’t seen a dry-it board online, in stores or at art convention vendor art booths. Have you done an online search?

Janis, I did an online search and the best I could come up with is a DIY project. Here’s the link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OgfXBK4CpCs

Yes, I have checked online. Is there a more current product that you use instead?

You can buy plastic triangles that can be arranged to fit under a painted piece. That’s what I use.

Hi Ruth! I am happy to hear you’re interested in joining our club! I will email a membership form to you along with the September newsletter. I’m also forwarding your question about submitting to teach in April 2026 to the teacher liaison, Stephanie Hauser. The deadline to submit is September 14th. For your reference, her email is sahauser@twc.com. Just curious, where do you live? You can communicate with me via my email at mphull92@gmail.com.
